Profile
Allan is a landscape planner with over 30 years' experience as a consultant, local authority planning specialist and university lecturer in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Prior to joining Boffa Miskell in 1987 he was head of landscape architecture at Lincoln University.
Allan specialises in assisting public, corporate and private clients to integrate development within sensitive environments. Two other specialist areas are environmental planning for utilities and the preparation of logical and defensible landscape and visual assessments.
He has extensive experience as both project co-ordinator and specialist consultant on a range of complex planning and design projects. He provides clients with innovative yet practical planning and consultation advice ensuring workable outcomes that satisfy client and environmental expectations. Allan is an experienced expert witness and capable public speaker.
Expertise
Assessment of effects on the environment
Evaluating effects of projects, advising on mitigation and undertaking consultation for resource consents under the Resource Management Act and for special projects.
Expert evidence
Providing expert evidence before council hearings and the Environment Court.
Landscape assessment and planning
Evaluating landscape character and quality for regions, districts or developments. Advising on objectives and policies for the ongoing management of the landscape.
Project management
Co-ordinating the input of different technical disciplines and managing project development for complex design and planning projects. Extensive public consultation is often involved.
Utilities planning
Providing environmental planning to ensure that utilities successfully integrate with their natural and physical contexts.
