Profile

Diana has worked as a professional ecologist for over 15 years in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She has specialised in the assessment and management of natural values and sustainable land use.

Diana has carried out extensive ecological survey work, identifying natural values and advising on appropriate management. She has worked throughout the South Island from coastal to montane environments and has managed the ecological aspects of large and complex multidisciplinary projects as well as smaller scale work.

She has designed and implemented monitoring programmes to assess land use effects, and to fulfil monitoring requirements for local authorities. Diana also combines ecological knowledge with highly developed skills in information management, bringing an efficient systems approach to project work.

Assessment of effects on the environment

Assessment of effects of land uses on species and habitats including scoping, design, report preparation, peer reviews and presentation of evidence.

Ecological and conservation assessment

Carrying out rapid and detailed surveys, researching published material and consulting with key individuals; making evaluations, based on scientific methods, to describe the natural values of a site, threats to those values and recommendations for management; ecological assessments of horticultural management systems.

Ecological advice

Providing ecological advice for land uses, including integration of biodiversity management and conservation on private land; advising on sustainable land management; making management recommendations for land administered for conservation.

Ecological monitoring

Designing and implementing scientifically based monitoring methods for assessing land use effects, including vegetation and fauna surveys and monitoring.

GIS / database development

Designing, developing and implementing GIS systems and databases for data analysis, information management, reporting, and presentation requirements, tailored to clients' needs through consultation.
