Profile
Gary has an outstanding knowledge of computer applications for design work and geographic analysis. He joined Boffa Miskell in January 2001 having worked at the Christchurch City Council for 12 years in the mapping and computer aided draughting (CAD) environment and with geographic information systems (GIS). He is particularly skilled in two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawing, three-dimensional computer modeling and mapping using geographical information systems (GIS).
Gary is able to work and manage CAD systems with a thorough understanding of the work involved, which in turn leads to clear visual communication in his work. With a strong background in draughting he uses computer software to actively create CAD drawings and maps, three dimensional models for rendered simulations, fly throughs and earthwork calculations as well as using GIS for mapping and analysis of the environment.
At Boffa Miskell Gary jointly manages the CAD and other IT systems in the Christchurch office.
Expertise
Computer Aided Design
Draughting in 2 and 3 dimensions using Microstation. Creating and manipulating terrain models in Geopak for use in spatial site analysis, earthwork calculations and visual simulations.
Visual Simulation
Producing computer-generated photographic images and montages and 3D models to illustrate proposed development in the landscape. Simulations are used for design presentations, promotion and consultation, and as evidence at planning hearings.
Geographic Information Services
Mapping and collation of geographic data for analysis of existing environs and future effects of proposed projects on the landscape.
Graphic Communication
Preparing plans, simulations and illustrations of high graphic quality for client presentations, reports and evidence at planning hearings.
