Education
New Zealand Certificate in Engineering, Auckland Institute of Technology, NZ, 1983
Profile
Michael is a specialist in computer-aided design. He uses his extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation in a wide range of applications including working drawings, 3-dimensional modelling and visual simulations.
He also manages CAD documentation for projects, as this is a critical factor in ensuring that projects run efficiently, with access to reliable and accurate CAD information.
Before joining Boffa Miskell in 2000, Michael worked for more than 10 years in CAD design for engineering companies, and then became a CAD consultant and trainer, also tutoring CAD part-time in the Spatial Design Degree programme at the School of Art and Design. As a consultant, he trained CAD staff, customized CAD systems and advised on CAD efficiencies for numerous companies throughout New Zealand.
Michael works well in team situations, and is able to clearly communicate CAD concepts and applications to others.
Expertise
Computer aided design
Drafting in 2 and 3 dimensions, using both AutoCAD and Microstation. Creating and manipulating terrain models in Geopak for use in spatial site analysis and earthwork calculations.
Visual simulations
Producing computer-generated photographic images and montages and 3D models to illustrate proposed development in the landscape. Simulations are used for design presentations, promotion and consultation, and as evidence at planning hearings.
CAD system customisation
Designing, implementing and documenting customised CAD systems to meet special requirements and maximise efficiency.
CAD training
Providing customised training to groups or individuals in the use of CAD applications.
GIS
Providing technical assistance in the use of geographical information systems software for special projects.
