Profile
Pene has experience in environmental management systems (including ISO14001), EHS systems, auditing, environmental risk assessments, environmental management plans, environmental impact assessment, consultation, waste policy and business sustainability.
Pene has developed environmental management systems for business and was responsible for gaining and maintaining ISO14001 certification in her previous role. She has been involved in the construction and demolition industry for a number of years, advising on resource efficiency and waste reduction, including writing national guidelines (under the REBRI brand), and providing on site advice to builders and architects. Pene has provided Councils with waste policy advice and provided assistance to Council-funded business sustainability programmes.
Pene has managed complex environmental impact assessment (EIA) projects for energy generation
projects, landfills, farm developments and industrial operations in New Zealand, Fiji and Asia, including managing sub-consultants and technical experts, developing monitoring programmes and environmental management plans and liaising with government agencies and international funding institutions.
Pene has also been involved in environmental scoping and preliminary risk assessments for large scale industrial land uses in New Zealand and environmental auditing of hydropower schemes under the IFC’s performance standards.
