Profile

Peter entered the landscape architecture profession from a background in architectural drafting and construction. Consequently, he has a good practical understanding of construction methods and design detailing.

He has worked both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom on a wide range of landscape projects including environmental, commercial, public open space, institutional and private mixed-use residential developments.

Peter is particularly talented in producing design solutions, detailed design and managing landscape projects.

Expertise

Landscape design

Conceptual design, master plan, detailed construction and planting design, schedules of quantity, specifications, contract documentation, costings and project supervision.

Landscape ecology

Assisting with ecological surveys, assessments and research relating to natural areas. Identifying appropriate plant species for revegetation projects.

Landscape rehabilitation

Developing restoration programmes for land disturbed by activities such as major developments, landfills or mineral extraction.

Graphic communication

Preparing plans and illustrations of high graphic quality for client presentations, competitions, reports and evidence at planning hearings.

Project management

Co-ordinating the input of different technical disciplines for landscape projects.

Visual assessment

Assessing the existing character and visual effects of proposed changes to specific landscapes. Advising on mitigation of effects, land development and land management policies.

Master planning

Integrating the planning and design of major projects from initial briefing and project definition, feasibility and site studies, through to concept development and cost planning.
