Can you retrofit a sports park and still showcase best practice landscape design?
Prior to amalgamation with the Auckland Council, one of the Papakura District Council’s legacy projects was to implement an upgrade of Massey Park. Council wanted to unlock the park’s potential as a premier sports ground and a recreation hub with the primary aim of encouraging the community to participate in physical activity.
Boffa Miskell was engaged to design and manage the landscape component of the upgrade. Our team consulted with Te Roopu Kaitiaki o Papakura and sports club representatives to inform the design response, coordinate the management of tree and vegetation maintenance/replanting. New on-site vehicle access and parking; outdoor plazas and pedestrian connections; low impact design stormwater management; and a new and repositioned playground were all incorporated into the design.
Consultation, master planning, developed design, detailed design, contract supervision.
