Can you reintroduce ecological habitats into a high density area?
Pipitea Plaza is a five-star Greenstar building that encompasses three areas of green roof. When the planting was completed in 2011 Pipitea Plaza had New Zealand’s largest green roof.
The Boffa Miskell design team developed landscape proposals for the open spaces, streetscape and roof areas. We also provided a landscape and visual effects assessment to support the Resource Consent Application and acted as expert witness for the Environment Court.
Design of the open spaces had to have particular regard to the sensitive context, set between Old St Paul’s Church, the coastal escarpment and the Pipitea Marae, whilst incorporating the special security requirements of the tenant — the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service.
