Helping to provide guidance and structure for community development.

The Katikati Community Board (KKCB) asked Boffa Miskell to produce a documented plan to provide guidance and structure for development over the next 10 years and a vision for the next 20 years.

Katikati Community Board and Boffa Miskell worked with the Western Bay of Plenty District Council to assemble a new Town Centre Plan and Community Plan. The focus of the 10-year Katikati Town Centre Plan is to achieve a high-functioning Town Centre; a strong community focus; a thriving visitor experience; and good options for local employment and quality of life. The Community Plan seeks to provide overarching strategies and outcomes sought, aligned with actions that can be achieved over a 20-year period.

Engagement with stakeholders and a key reference group was essential to developing the plans, with wider community engagement undertaken by the Katikati Community Board. A high level of engagement was sourced through the Town Plan and through the Community Plan undertaken concurrently over two years.

As part of the Town Plan, the team workshopped with Waka Kotahi to develop a Main Street concept providing a direction for growth and development in the heart of the town. We also developed pathway to permanence options for tactical urbanism options.

During the Town Plan development Boffa Miskell worked closely with Waka Kotahi to include the One Network Framework providing options and structure into the town centre main street in a summarised landscape concept.

The Community Plan provides direction of the key goals and actions for the next 20 years and captures the wider Katikati ward to assemble and distil the desires and direction of the community into one succinct document.
