About Rhys

Rhys has a wide range of experience in landscape planning, both within New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. His expertise includes broad scale landscape assessment and evaluation studies, assessment of landscape and visual effects for development proposals, site planning, and the formulation of measures to avoid or mitigate potential adverse effects.

The landscape planning projects that Rhys has worked on cover both urban and rural landscapes. Projects include the preparation of landscape and visual impact assessments, landscape and townscape character assessments, landscape capacity studies guiding site selection, assessments identifying opportunities and constraints to inform master plans, landscape management plans, and landscape strategies to support successful development proposals.

Rhys is experienced in managing project teams and projects requiring the delivery of landscape assessments and the presentation of expert evidence at both Council Hearings and the Environment Court. He takes pride in achieving effective outcomes while maintaining strong relationships with his clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
