About William

William has worked on a wide range of projects across multidisciplinary areas which focus on private to public spaces, environment and restorative design, and a cultural design advisor. William brings a wide range of technical skills and expertise.

William’s work has been highly commended, challenging traditional methods of landscape architecture with the consideration of cultural approaches to design and processing.

During his time at Victoria University, he was a Māori researcher, exploring the inclusion of mātauranga Māori and Te Ao Māori with landscape architecture, establishing a strong foundation for future research. He also tutored undergraduate and postgraduate courses for sites and systems; design integration; and urban technologies.

William affiliates to Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Raukawa, Rāngitane and Muaūpoko and is a confident speaker of Te Reo Māori. William hopes to continue his work with the inclusion of mātauranga Māori and to explore and expand on traditional cultural methodologies within practice and the wider field of landscape architecture.
