Integrating landscape, ecology and urban design into stormwater management practice.

Boffa Miskell ecologists, landscape architects, planners, and urban designers have assisted Auckland Council to review their stormwater management guidance documents.

We have provided technical reports on the integration of urban design and low-impact design (LID), bioretention design, and the application of LID to Brownfield sites. These reports have subsequently informed Auckland Council’s Water Sensitive Design Manual (GD_04), also prepared by Boffa Miskell.

The technical report, ‘Landscape and Ecology Values within Stormwater Management’, prepared by Boffa Miskell, updates the publication TP10 Stormwater Management Devices. The report provides guiding principles to promote landscape and ecology values in stormwater devices. It also offers plant lists, specifications, and maintenance programmes to inform the function of stormwater devices such as rain gardens, green roofs, and wetland ponds.
