With extensive experience as a policy planner, I have worked in and on behalf of local councils, central government, and industry clients. I am well‑versed in the full district plan review process, having worked on two of these reviews during my time as a council policy planner. I bring strong programme management skills, having led teams through multi‑year plan review projects and plan changes, requiring detailed technical knowledge while retaining a focus on the bigger picture.
At Wellington City Council, I led the Planning for Growth Programme, a multi-year programme which included the development of the Wellington City Spatial Plan and a full review of the 2000 District Plan. I have a particular passion for developing policies and strategies that achieve positive and sustainable outcomes for future generations. My experience also includes supporting regional council planning processes, including Regional Policy Statements and Regional Plan change processes, mostly focused on implementing the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management and Te Mana o te Wai in the local context.
Throughout my career, I have developed a sound understanding of the critical role effective stakeholder and community engagement plays in creating meaningful change for our communities. I enjoy engaging with a range of audiences to develop shared understanding. While my career has mostly been policy-focused, I have been involved in resource consenting work, including the preparation of regional consent applications for industry clients. I have also worked on multi-disciplinary consenting projects providing social and environmental multi-criteria assessments, consenting strategy development, and the preparation of consent applications.
