Kaimātai Hauropi | Ecologist
Kaiarataki | Professional
My background is primarily in freshwater ecology, with previous roles in both local government and consulting. I have worked on a broad range of projects including large scale residential developments, small private subdivisions, infrastructure projects, and restoration projects. This work has allowed me to gain experience in both freshwater and terrestrial ecology assessments, opportunity and constraints mapping, impact assessments, and management plan development.
Much of my work involves being hands-on undertaking ecological monitoring including habitat, macroinvertebrate, and fish surveys, water quality sampling, and fauna salvage. I enjoy the collaboration with projects teams and local Iwi that comes from diverse projects and the challenges the freshwater environment brings.
I am passionate about developing effective ecological strategies to ensure the protection and enhancement of our freshwater ecosystems and providing ecological advice to achieve environmentally sensitive solutions.
