Boffa Miskell biosecurity consultants work collaboratively with key stakeholders to enable more efficient and effective biosecurity outcomes.

As part of the services we deliver for LINZ (Land Information New Zealand) within some of New Zealand's major lakes, we manage operational activities such as helicopter or boat spraying of aquatic weeds, commercial divers performing aquatic weed removal and more recently, divers laying hessian matting, a biodegradable weed control method.

Waterbodies included within the aquatic programme include Lake Wanaka, Lake Wakatipu, Kawarau River, Lake Dunstan, Lake Aviemore, Lake Benmore, Lake Waitaki, Lake Ohau, Lake Karapiro and Lake Ruataniwha.

While these waterbodies are invaded by aquatic weeds at varying levels, Lake Ohau and Lake Ruataniwha have remained free of Lagarosiphon, although on-going surveillance will continue.
