Mātanga Huringa Āhuarangi | Nature & Climate Change Specialist
Specialist
Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland OFFICE
Since 2017, my work has focused increasingly on climate change, including contributing to some of the foundational climate‑related legislation, policies, and national plans for Aotearoa New Zealand. I have particular experience in helping organisations understand what climate change means for them in practice, and in developing informed responses that consider organisational context and value chains.
I have supported a wide range of organisations, including local government, large corporates, and national‑level clients. This includes working with the Government of Samoa on the decarbonisation of the transport system. At Vector, I worked on early organisational‑level climate change scenario development, collaborating with business units to understand the implications of climate change and identify appropriate responses. To support this work more broadly, I developed a bespoke climate wheel tool to simplify climate change considerations and connect them clearly to organisational value chains.
More recently, I have worked with primary sector clients as they begin to understand and develop responses to challenges arising from their dependence on the natural environment.
At Boffa Miskell, I am working on climate change risk assessments, nature impact and dependency assessments, and the development of strategic responses to both climate and nature‑related challenges. I am also involved in the preparation of climate adaptation plans, supporting organisations to better understand risk and plan effective responses.
